HARD QUESTIONS ARE NOT WORTH MORE THAN EASY ONES.  They just waste more of your time.  Jumping past time-intensive problems, you can rack up all the easy answers before going back to the harder ones.  Instead of burning time by struggling through the problems in the established order, you make your own order.  Unlike the rigid and numerical order of the test, your order adapts to you.  Here's a simple code and how it can be used:

coding system for labeling SAT problems during test

  • If you know the answer right away, bust it and move on.
  • For a tougher question that isn't so obvious, give it a shot for a minute or so.  Then label it and move on.
  • If you have no idea what to do with a particular problem, label it and skip it.

Once you've navigated through a section in this way, use your remaining time to go back and attack the problems you left behind.  A coding system like this allows you to move more smoothly through the test and maintain an appropriate speed.
