Sentence Completion (SC) questions are part of the SAT's Critical Reading sections. These question types are designed to test your vocabulary and knowledge of sentence structure. Here are the instructions for SC questions that you'll find on the test.
When you encounter an SC problem, ATTACK ONE BLANK AT A TIME. If you aren't sure of the answer right away, then eliminate the wrong ones based on the following criteria:
Cross out all answer choices that don't fit. Sometimes, the missing word is neutral. In those cases, try plugging in your own word.
What answer choices contain similar words?
Questions go from easy to hard, and the harder questions utilize harder vocab words. So, if you're in the beginning of the section, it's likely that the right answer will contain a relatively easy vocab word. If you are at the end of the section, chances are the right answer will contain a harder vocab word. (Note: This particular strategy is not an exact science, and is only recommended for those "oh crap" moments when you have no clue what to do. Often, all the answer choices contain either hard or easy vocab words. In those instances, this strategy would not be helpful).
