  • Response to Prompt & Support – Basically, every SAT prompt is asking you a question. MAKE IT CLEAR WHETHER YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE with the prompt, and SUPPORT YOUR STANCE with specific and relevant examples.
  • Organization – To be well-organized, an SAT essay should have the following paragraphs in this order: introduction, first example, second example, third example, and conclusion. This format will help your ideas progress smoothly from one to another.
  • Language Skills (Vocab)This aspect of the rubric illustrates that the graders are seeking a vitality of vocabulary uncommon in pedestrian conversations. In other words, they want to see how many fancy words you can dump on ‘em. But make sure to use your vocab correctly, or it counts against you. Learn some exemplary words before you take the test, and this is not as hard as it sounds.
  • Sentence Structure (variety, mistakes)They want variety in your sentence structure. They want accuracy in your sentence structure. They don’t want to read an essay that sounds like these three sentences. Mix it up! Do this by varying the length and organization of your sentences.
  • Grammar, Usage, MechanicsIf you’re grammar aren’t right, they graders has trouble understanding what your saying. No matter how great your ideas are, they won't compensate for confusing grammar.
