Each EXAMPLE paragraph should have a topic sentence, a few sentences of commentary, and a closing sentence.

TOPIC SENTENCE

This sentence connects your topic to your specific example.  If you're stuck, take the formulaic way out:

"[Specific example] is one example of [essay topic]."

COMMENTARY SENTENCES

These sentences describe why your example is relevant to the topic.  What parts of this example make it apply to your topic?

CLOSING SENTENCE

This sentence identifies how your example directly supports your thesis.  Ideally, it provides a smooth transition to the next paragraph.
